Clear Channel continues to focus on the C-word – CONTENT. For the first time in recent memory, there’s news and even some buzz about the celebrity signing of Whoopi Goldberg for syndicated mornings. The chances are good that on her first morning this summer, she’ll be talking to more women than she could possibly reach via satellite radio.
This isn’t just the signing of a big name for terrestrial radio, but it’s an indicator that not every star is headed for Sirius or XM. In fact, Goldberg was quoted as saying her goal is to move female viewers away from TELEVISION, the medium that has more audience than satellite radio in mornings. Big thinking is always smart.
