A much better choice than national and international leaders, Time magazine’s "Person of the Year" is YOU. Yet another strong indicator that CGM has become more than just a fad. On the cover of the new issue on newstands, there’s simply a mirror, illustrating that regular folk are using the Internet in ways that once seemed impossible. By me writing this blog, and you reading it (and perhaps commenting on it), we’ve become content creators ourselves.
Between cell phone cameras and simple web editing tools, people are generating their own content – and in 2006, local radio has been at the center of it all. We are pleased with how many of our clients have taken advantage, heeding the words of Summit 11 speaker, Ben McConnell and harnessing their "power of one." As Jason Calacanis noted at that same function, our "listeners are our farm team." Ben’s new book, "Citizen Marketers," comes out right on time to capitalize on the ongoing buzz that is CGM.
It’s a rapidly changing world out there, powered by the Internet and the imagination of content providers like our audiences. Smart stations are seizing the opportunity, having fun with CGM, and benefiting from giving their listeners a seat at the table. It was the essence of NeoRadio as we laid in out in ’03, and it has manifested itself in a huge way this year. Dig in.
