Most of us look forward to these long 3-day weekends, especially in the summertime.
But this one’s a little bit different.
OK, it’s a LOT different.
All this week, we’ve talked about strategies and tactics you might put into action during the last half of this crazy year. We hope our posts on special programming, research, email databasing, and brand evangelist groups struck a responsive chord with you and your team. (Each is linked in the previous sentence, and at the end of this post.)
These ideas can be put into action without much (if any) financial output. But they all require commitment, time, and effort. Choose the one (or ones) that best fit your brand and your team’s collective skills sets.
The events of the past week are clear signs the second half of 2020 will be challenging for most of us, personally and professionally.
We know the right things to do – as well as the wrong ones – and hopefully the country – starting in our local communities – will help us turn COVID-19 (and our other issues) around.
You have a megaphone – your radio stations and your personalities can be difference-makers in how your audience hears the most helpful messages.
From the beginning of the pandemic, it has become clear just how truly local it is. Each state and community is being tasked to handle COVID-19 differently. It’s another reason why broadcast radio has an opportunity to shine. The real-time ability to inform, entertain, and at times, provide escape and distraction are what sets radio apart.
We know the last many weeks and months have been difficult, stressful, and challenging for most of the people who read this blog. Your efforts on behalf of your stations, your companies, and the industry have been nothing short of amazing, especially given the stress, the pressures, and the need to pivot – adapting procedures and protocols, often on the fly. Congratulations on getting it done.
All of us at Jacobs Media (and jacapps) wish you and your family a happy, safe weekend, a respite from the stress of these last several months, and the opportunity to refresh, recharge, and re-engage.
Our staff is working hard to support your efforts, and we’re focused on how we can make the “second half” of 2020 a lot more satisfying and successful than what we’ve endured these past several months.
We’ll be back on Monday with a new post.
Happy Fourth.

Big Take Away: “These ideas can be put into action without much (if any) financial output. But they all require commitment, time, and effort.” Thank you, Fred! Safety, refresh and the best is yet to come for all.

As always, Fred, its not the cash or the company you work for its the personal commitment (or as my mom used to say “elbow grease”) that gets the job done. Thanks for the post.
