For some of you (alas, not the hard-working folks at Jacobs Media and jacapps), you’re in the middle of a glorious 3-day weekend. Whatever the case, here’s this week’s potpourri of stories and articles for your Sunday morning.
1. What’s In Your Kindle?
How to get the marketing edge? AdAge turned to 7 top marketers to find out what tops their current reading list. Some great idea here. Check out their choices here.
2. Is Spotify On The Ropes?
This time, it’s BBC News with an analysis of Spotify (and music streaming) suggesting the model simply isn’t workable. With a subheading that includes “Brutal Arithmetic,” their take is an interesting one, and you can read it here.
3. Is Trump Coverage Upending All Media (Including Radio)?
The Columbia Journalism Review with a fascinating story about how even music news (think music radio) is being overshadowed by the black hole of political coverage. It used to be Christmas music, the World Series, and winter weather, but this article suggests it’s the political mania. Check it out here. Thanks, Dave Beasing.
4. Take My Facebook Page, Please
Remember Depeche Mode? For one year, a different fan will take over their Facebook page every day. They’re looking for memories, memorabilia, photos, and of course, social sharing. You can check this video by Dave Gahan here.
5. You Just Might Be A DJ (Presenter)
Obviously, the BuzzFeed UK branch put this together. It’s 19 “secrets” about being in radio that show the industry is pretty universal, whether you’re jocking in London or Las Vegas. You can flip through it here.
We hope you enjoy this week’s stories and articles, curated by Bill Jacobs.
