Hopefully, the new year is off to a good start. There’s no shortage of things to think and talk about, so here are the five stories that jumped out at us during the past few days:
1. The Power of Experiences
Marketers need to differentiate themselves, and offering experiences to consumers is increasing a way to pull this off. The great news: young people are especially attracted to experiences and they share them socially. For radio, this is a big thing. Read about this eMarketer story here.
2. Take My Cadillac, Please
At CES, we heard about new shared mobility initiatives, often coming from car manufacturers themselves. Cadillac is launching a pilot program called BOOK that mashes up shared mobility with its luxury car line. The embedded video explains how it works. Check out this Cool Hunting story here.
3. Millennial Moms
It’s been said that Millennials are putting off having children, but more than one million are becoming mothers each year. This has marketing and positioning implications for radio stations that target Millennials. Pew has the story here.
4. Mark Zuckerberg for President?
As we await Donald Trump’s inauguration this week, other high-profile businessmen might be preparing a run for the Oval Office. Is Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg one of them? Wire has the details.
5. YouTube Talent
It’s never easy finding talent, but here’s a place no one looks – the top 10 highest paid YouTubers. This is a longish video, but a fascinating look at what “prints” on YouTube. BTW, these stars are very much out of everyone’s price range. Watch it here.
