Jacobs Summit X is history. Thanks to the entire Jacobs staff for another superior effort. After the entire day, Larry Sharp (KSAN/SF) came up to me, and noted that while not intentional, every panel had a common theme – passion. Upon reflection of the day, he is on the money.
Passion has become something of a cliché in our business. We talk about it all the time, but walking that walk is far more challenging. We heard it loud and clear in our "What’s UP With Rock?" town meeting from David Field to Warren Christensen to Mike Stern to Doug Podell. When speaking about his love and commitment to our business, Greater Media’s Peter Smyth exuded passion. And Little Steven’s exciting keynote was dripping with the stuff.
Later in the day, our "360 Degrees Of Technology" panel participants talked about how radio is in the game, but needs more dedicated passion to new media. And in "What Men Want," passion was a common theme from MTV’s Amy Doyle to The Loop’s Tommy King.
From the Jacobs side, passion turned into exhaustion, but we got a little R&R of our own this weekend, and are back, recharged and ready to kick some ass.
