As you may have read yesterday on AllAccess, an A&E produced show, in partnership with Popular Mechanics, rated all of the most important, innovative, and incredible devices in history.
On “101 Gadgets of All Time,” the #1 most important device is the smartphone.
And sitting at a solid #2 (above TV, the hypodermic syringe, and the light bulb) is good old RADIO.
The smartphone and radio.
OK, everyone at Jacobs Media and jacAPPS, let’s take the rest of the day off. Maybe we’re in the right business after all.

That’s cool that Radio did so well, but I still can’t get over how badly ‘duct tape’ got shafted. It came in at #101, yet it can repair anything. The hair dryer is more important than duct tape? BTW – all our Radio banners wouldn’t have stayed up all these years without duct tape. We got robbed here.

It’s impressive that of all these gadgets and innovations, radio ranked so highly. Even with all the new devices and technologies, radio is, in fact, wireless, simple to operate, always there, familiar, and dependable. Those are pretty nice assets. (Even better than duct tape.)
