As we navigate through these disruptively fascinating times, there’s always that question about what’s driving the change – the hardware or the software.
Apple has always had its finger precisely on that pulse, and a new breakthrough ad for iPhone (yes, amazing how they continue to market their biggest successes) ends the debate.
It’s about the software.
It’s about the apps.
And it’s about how we enjoy using them in every aspect of our lives.

It stimulates you to think of ways to make smartphones come alive. Now that TS10 shows that three-fourths of the population in the U.S. are walking around with one of these devices in pockets and purses, what can we make, create, and innovate that will delight, entertain, and enchant?
That’s the mission at jacAPPS every day, and we encourage you to ask those same questions in your upcoming brainstorm meetings this year.
We are at an interesting junction with smartphones. The days when a new model would come out, and we’d all be jumping up and down because of its new features are pretty much over. The iPhone is now criticized for its lack of innovation. Even the new Samsung phones draw some nods but rarely exhilaration.
It comes down to the software, the apps, and how they make our lives easier and better. That’s where the innovation is happening and will continue to happen.
As an industry with great media brands, personalities, and local connections, the radio industry is in an amazing position to play a strong role in that innovation.
Apple is telling us that we’re more powerful than we think.
Once again, they’re spot on.
