OK, when things slow down a bit at the next party or business meeting you attend, you now have a factoid that will amaze and impress.
When you see ads for the iPhone in print or TV, the time is almost always set to 9:42.
Former Apple employee Bob Borcher recently revealed that 9:42 was the time the iPhone was originally launched.
Don’t you wish your brand paid this much attention to every little detail?
So now you know.
P.S. I started checking ads for newer iPhones – the 4 and 4S series. Most of those ads show the time at 9:41. Hmmmm……
P.P.S. Jacobs Media has just finished a research study about mobile for the Integrated Media Association. iMA’s mission is to harness the power of the Internet and other new media platforms for the benefit of public broadcasters. Tim Davis and I are presenting it Thursday, March 7 in Austin at iMA’s conference just ahead of SXSW. If you’re in public media and you’d like a great look at the mobile present and future, we’d love to see you there. Registration info here.

On the same topic… just who is ‘Johnny Appleseed’ – the name seen in the contacts list in iPhone ads? Answer: it’s #9 in this Top-10 apple facts list – https://mashable.com/2010/07/08/10-apple-facts/
Thanks, Ralph, for keeping today’s post “trivial.”
It’s interesting that one of the apple facts is their nod to 2001, since the 9:41 time matches the monolith ratio of 1-4-9. Maybe that’s a reason they changed it from 9:42.
Wow, I better start taking notes when I watch “Big Bang Theory.” Thanks for the numerology lesson, Paul.
