In an effort to launch Techsurvey9 before the first station goes “All Christmas,” Jacobs Media is announcing that we are officially in sign-up mode for our January 2013 survey.
Our new study comes on the heels of its predecessor – Techsurvey8 – the biggest study ever conducted in radio.
170 stations
57,300+ responses
More than 35 companies
And if you were one of those stakeholder stations or part of the thousands of radio professionals who saw one of our many presentations or webinars, you know the impact that Techsurvey8 had for radio – and the stations that participated in it.
So we’re going to try to get ahead of the curve this year and start signing up broadcasters now in our quest for 300 stations, even more respondents than last year, and a format expansion that allows us to take an even deeper dive into what is really happening with radio listeners in this increasingly cluttered environment.
Last year, we had enough respondents to provide 12 different format breakouts – an invaluable tool for understanding the differences in how radio’s many communities are using media. We would love to expand the “format pie” this year, and include Urban and Hispanic formats, too.
Techsurvey8 generated some amazing findings:
- The growth and use of tablets – and how this space will be even bigger
- Radio’s “emotional triggers” and what they mean to every programmer and brand manager
- The increasing influence of Twitter – especially for formats like Sports/Talk
- Pandora – for many – is radio, but the pure-play is lacking in loyal fans
- The value of individualized mobile apps for radio
- Pinterest’s growth – especially in formats like Hot AC
- The importance of mobile devices and streaming
- Radio’s need to improve its video streaming assets
- Christian’s radio’s incredible recommendation scores
- The beginnings of the “digital dash” and what it means for radio
And of course, many more great takeaways, especially during our format webinars.
One of our trademarked breakouts in these surveys is the Media Usage Pyramid. Stakeholder stations that purchase their local data receive the pyramids that depict total data, their format totals, and their station pyramids allowing for even more learning. These pyramids are tacked up in cubicles and offices in stations all over North America, serving as a reminder to programmers, personalities, sales people, and general managers about their audience profiles, challenges and opportunities.
This year, we have more burning questions to answer – multi-tasking with radio, the use of multiple screens, a deeper dive on apps and Facebook, and our Pandora tracking. We will also be looking at how market size and geography impacts media and technology usage – or does it?
We’d love to have you join us for Techsurvey9. Additional details regarding cost and scheduling are available by clicking this link. We also offer cluster and company discounts, too.
Once again, we are partnering with All Access on Techsurvey9. The results will be presented at their third Worldwide Radio Summit in L.A. in early May. But participating stations will experience the data first in a private webinar that will precede that conference.
This is the least expensive – but most important – research you may do all year. Thanks for your past participation and we hope to have you as a key stakeholder station in Techsurvey9.
