The recent surge of guy-named formats (hey, it started with Alice) has now produced Jack, Bob, Dave, Ben, Howard, and now Emmis’ Hank in Indianapolis. There was a Fred in Albuquerque, but I’m pleased to report that it was changed to Ed for reasons that we cannot fathom.
In that spirit, Tim Davis (who is obviously not as busy as he appears to be) has come up with some of the next logical format names.
-
OZZY-FM – A station devoted to all things that are Classic Rock that Rocks
-
JUSTIN-FM – Every cheesy Boy Band song ever recorded
-
KURT-FM – The country’s first all-Grunge format
-
EMINEM-FM – (The hardest of these formats to pronounce) Hip-Hop Nation
-
TUPAC-FM (Or perhaps PUFFY-FM) – A different way to go
-
CELINE-FM (Or MARIAH-FM) – The best in Adult Contemporary
-
LUDWIG-FM – A way for Classical to get in the act
-
EDDIE-FM – Every great guitar solo on one station
-
JUAN-FM – Every Spanish song that ever charted
-
RINGO-FM – Finally, a way to get that all-Beatles format back on the radio. Of course, the moment someone tries it, a PAUL-FM will sign on across the street.
-
WALTER-AM – All News
- JESUS-FM – The next big thing in Christian radio
There is no Active Rock guy-named option because there are no artists well-known enough to personify the format.
Of course, we’d love to hear your new format ideas – email me, or click the comments link below.
