What does it say about the music industry, radio, the Grammy Awards…and us…that two Classic Rock icons – the Beatles and Led Zeppelin – played a key role in Sunday night’s show?
Paul and Ringo – the two surviving Beatles – performed together (and looked great, of course). This on the heels of the Beatles’ 50th anniversary (and neither performed a Beatles song). Here’s a brief clip:

And then the Rock Album of the Year award went to…
…yes, Led Zeppelin, who also took top honors in this category for “Celebration Day.”
So the hope is that at worst, every Classic Rock sales staff has even more ammunition this morning to explain the lasting power and passionate appeal of their iconic format.
And maybe Lorde will even write a song about it.
P.S. And no, I didn’t forget about Black Sabbath’s honor. Congrats to them, too.
