How do you celebrate any milestone? Whether it’s a radio station’s 30th anniversary, or in our case, the celebration of two decades of Classic Rock, it’s important to do it in a big, memorable way.
That’s why Rolling Stone’s 1,000th issue (in May ’06) is already garnering attention. RS will produce a first – a 3D cover, featuring a collage of about 100 influential figures. This will be a collectors’ item, and might have that same Sgt. Pepper’s impact where readers try to identify the faces. They are already planning on charging higher rates for this issue, and based on the fact there’s PR happening six months in front of this issue, the campaign is already working.
An old, venerable media outlet just got a purple paint job.
