Finally, warm weather throughout the Midwest and the East – and that could only mean one thing:
We’re not far away from Conclave 2013 which is set to go on July 17-19 in Minneapolis.
Our company has been involved with this Learning Conference for many years now, as our industry has gone through some seismic changes. But the true mission of Conclave remains on solid turf:
“Through education, the Conclave’s mission is to improve the quality of broadcasting and related industries so they may better serve the public interest.”
At a time when industry education is probably at its lowest point, Conclave continues to stand out as a beacon for training, learning, and discovery – whether you’re new to radio or a grizzled veteran eager to sharpen your skills.
The Conclave’s new director, Bob Shannon, has amassed some amazing guests in his very first year in the captain’s chair. Participating luminaries include Walter Sabo, Randy Lane, John Gehron, Michael Harrison, Joel Denver, Kipper McGee, Ivan Braiker, Dr. Ed Cohen, and yes, even Randy Bachman of BTO fame.
And as Jacobs Media has done during the past three years, Summer School is back with a great lineup to kick off Conclave’s Wednesday afternoon agenda.
We’ve got some great Jacobs Media presentations, including never seen before findings from our new Techsurvey9 that we’re saving for Conclave, as well as a deep dive into what’s new with social media, featuring Lori Lewis.
And we’ve got some incredible guests for Summer School. As you probably know, Jaye Albright will receive a Rockwell this year (an honor that I very much cherish myself), and I’ll have the pleasure of a one-on-one with her. We’ll talk about her amazing ride, her incredible success in Country radio, and her view of where we’re headed as an industry.
Speaking of legends, my old friend and client, Dave Hamilton, will be making a very rare appearance – anywhere! Dave will tell us about his amazing multi-decade success at KQRS, how he rose to the top – and stayed there despite some incredibly difficult competition. Very few have heard Dave opine about programming, radio, and the industry, so this will be a real treat for Summer School students.
As we have during the past several semesters, we’re tapping the Twin Cities digerati – some of the smartest people in the area who we can learn from. First, we’ll get a look inside the largest shopping experience on earth from Bridget Jewell who heads up social media and PR for the Mall of America (pictured left).
And is there a better run department store experience than the one provided by Target? So, Joe Curry, their social media manager, will take us on a guided tour up and down the aisles and into the backroom of Target’s great fan experience (pictured right).
Plus, what would a Jacobs Media Summer School be without an update on what’s happening in the mobile space? And we’ll even take you behind the scenes so you can meet some of the automakers’ movers and shakers – the brains behind the digital dashboard.
And that’s just Wednesday afternoon.
So join us for Conclave, support your industry, and an organization whose very existence helps young broadcasters and fledgling wannabes.

See you at Summer School 4.
