This morning’s post comes from Paul Jacobs who has obviously spent much too much time watching NFL Football this month:
What was your favorite play from last Sunday’s AFC Championship game?
It was an exciting game, played by two hard-hitting teams. And despite a seemingly insurmountable first half lead for the Steelers, those Ryan-led Jets came back to make a game of it.
But I thought some of the most memorable moments occurred off the field and behind the scenes.
Sorry Jets and Steelers fans, because two of the most outstanding highlights aired back to back during a commercial cluster in the middle of the game.
First, a commercial for Volkswagen’s Jetta using a couple of iconic dancers from 70-odd years ago:

And then this commercial for IBM, featuring a certain comic genius whose classic humor is a great setup for new technology.

It shows once again that great content never goes out of style. And classic figures and stars will always have a place in the pop culture zeitgeist of any time period. It is – and always was – about building great personality brands.
So who do you like in the Super Bowl? (And which classic stars from yesteryear will appear in these multimillion dollar commercials?)
