A new study by Borrell Associates will look familiar to Jacobs Media and jacAPPS clients. According to Borrell, local mobile spending will more than triple this year. The projected trajectory over the next several years is stunning.
Coupons, contests, and discounts will power this trend, according to Borrell. We've talked about couponing extensively in this blog and in client memos, especially since the economy soured. Radio is on the ground, in touch with "windshield businesses" where coupons work. Combine that with the device that the entire cume has in their pockets and purses and radio can ride this curve.
Of course, in order to be part of this boom, you need a strong brand, great content, and the vision to be in the mobile space.

Accomplishing the third – presence on mobile devices – has a relatively small barrier to entry, far less expensive than those transmitters and towers cost, much less than the real estate they occupy.
