As if you needed any indication that the Classic Rock revolution is alive and well, look no further than the college campus.
While it’s true that the core Classic Rock listener is, in fact, an aging Baby Boomer, the reality is that “the music that has stood the test of time” continues to find new fans, especially young people searching for their musical identities.
If you’d like tangible proof that freshmen love Floyd, sophomores enjoy Skynyrd, juniors are into Jethro Tull, and seniors can’t get enough of Supertramp, think about the creative genius that is the Ohio State Marching Band.
During last Saturday’s rout of Rutgers, this amazing ensemble performed a halftime tribute to Classic Rock, reminding us that none of us wants to die before we get old and that smashing guitars was always a very rock ‘n roll thing to do.
I promise that despite not recognizing the Great Lakes State, this marching band will get your tongue wagging and rock you like a hurricane.
While watching this video makes me personally feel a bit (scarlet and) gray, you have to grudgingly hand it to buckeye creativity. Here’s nine minutes of Classic Rock fun. Let’s hope that the band turns out to be better than the football team:
Thanks and a “Go BLUE/Go GREEN” to Larry Rosin and others who knew this would make my football Saturday.

What a great way to start the day! Don’t you love the thought of the Class of 2019 adapting The Police as their Class Anthem Band?! Classic Rock and Classic Hits and Rock and Roll Oldies (OMG) are the Soundtrack of our lives. It’s an important tradition being passed from Boomers to their babies, and beyond! “The Magic’s in the Music and the Music’s in Me” transcends generations and stimulates good feeling. It’s part of our history, psychology, sociology and DNA. Please count me as an involved Boomer who’s sick of inexperienced wannabes who proclaim radio dead and demos dying at 55. Keep it fresh & familiar and play the hits! Thank, again, Sir Fred! Clark

Aside from the fact that it was THE Ohio State University, I thought it was an amazing tribute to the greatest music ever made. Thanks, Clark.
