Jacobs Media clients know that Tech Poll III is back from the cyberspace field, and is in the process of being sliced and diced. It’s a great study, consisting of over 25,000 interviews among Rockers across the U.S. For the third consecutive year, we’ve measured how Rock Radio listeners use other media, and how they spend their time. This is the only study and the most extensive study of its kind – a thorough look at everything from iPods to streaming to HD Radio to cell phones.
The tech world is changing at light speed. But for satellite radio, it’s slowed down considerably. And that’s the topic of our first release of the data from the study. In the ’06 poll, we showed impressive growth for satellite radio with the arrival of Howard Stern to Sirius. But we also predicted a year ago that the rush to buy Sirius had pretty much played out by February.
This year’s study confirms the slowing of satellite radio. Neither service has grown in our report, but Sirius clearly generates more satisfaction among its customers. Nonetheless, while other technology has grown considerably in our poll, satellite radio appears to have stalled out.
There’s lots of great data about satellite radio on our website – www.ik9.5f7.myftpupload.com – from the key drivers for each service to the reasons why many subscribers are less than pleased with their service.
We are excited about the initial release of the data from Tech Poll III, and more will be forthcoming over the next several weeks. Your feedback on our surveys is welcome, as we continue to learn more about how radio listeners are engaged with other media and new technologies.
