It was 30 years ago today the world was rocked by “Back to the Future,” starring a young Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly.
One of the highlights of the film was the time machine that turned out to be a souped up DeLorean. (USA Today says that early drafts of the script used a refrigerator as the device that hurtled Fox backward in time. But the producers chose a car because of fears that children who saw the movie would start climbing into the fridge.)
Professor Brown’s futuristic DeLorean went on to become one of the coolest movie cars every dreamed up, second only to perhaps the Batmobile. Invented by the Detroit auto maverick John Z. DeLorean, that gull-winged vehicle still elicits ooh’s and aah’s today.
But you don’t have to go back to the future to see where cars are going. At DASH, you will be inspired by the technology of the “connected car” and why it matters to the radio industry. We have several panels dedicated to the road ahead in the automotive space, and where radio fits in.
Ford Motor Company VP of marketing, sales, and service – Mark LaNeve – will paint the picture for DASH attendees about the future of radio and automotive. As a board member for Entercom, Mark sees our connected worlds clearer than most.
Former auto executive, John Ellis, will break down the coming impact of Apple’s Car Play and Google’s Android Auto and why these interfaces from the leading tech companies matter very much to radio. John is an outspoken guy who will pull no punches.
Our panel on “The Latest & Greatest In The Car” is moderated by Visteon’s Chris Andrews, and features Cisco’s Andreas Mai, Toyota’s Wayne Powell, and NextRadio’s Paul Brenner. These guys won’t need a flux capacitor to tell us where the space is headed.
And Amplifi Media’s Steve Goldstein heads up a session featuring Audible’s Eric Nuzum, Midroll’s Erik Diehn, and WNYC’s Sara Van Mosel all talking about the future of on-demand in-dash content in cars.
The future is now at DASH, November 4-5 in the automotive capital of the world, Detroit. Information is available here.
