ABOUT US | OUR TEAM | OUR HISTORY
Broadcasting
Fred Jacobs launched our company in 1983 by creating and popularizing the Classic Rock radio format. We grew in the late 80s and early 90s by bringing The Edge alternative rock format to stations across the United States. Over time, we expanded into public radio by providing guidance for local stations as well as networks like NPR and PRI. In the 2010s our work extended to providing extensive audience research for members of the CMB (Christian Music Broadcasters).
Our expertise ventured into the world of television by working with MTV, VH1, and Comedy Central as they diversified their programming.
Digital
Jacobs Media have been pioneers, with our digital strategy consulting beginning in 1997 at the beginning of websites and streaming. Since then, we’ve continuously adapted our services to encompass social media, podcasting, and digital revenue strategies.
In 2004, we launched Techsurvey, now North America’s largest annual study of radio listeners on media technology adoption. This comprehensive research spans commercial, Christian, and public radio sectors, providing crucial insights into audience behavior and preferences. In its two-decades, Techsurvey has become the industry benchmark for tracking media technology trends.
Our longstanding experience and data-driven approach uniquely position us to guide media companies through the ever-evolving digital landscape.
Technology
In 2008, we launched our mobile apps company, jācapps. Today, it is one of the top providers of apps to radio stations in North America.
In 2009, we began attending CES and partnering with the Consumer Technology Association on leading broadcaster-focused tours to the world’s pre-eminent tech event.
In 2013, as automotive dashboards became more complex, we created the DASH Conference, bringing radio broadcasters together with leaders in the connected car space.
In 2017, we produced the Broadcasters Meet Podcasters track at the Podcast Movement summit, designed to teach radio broadcasters about the world of podcasting.
In 2024, we launched our AI EDGE initiative, to help educate broadcasters and help them integrate artificial intelligence into their companies’ workflows.
