Kudos to the courageous team at Entercom's WWL/New Orleans – for showing the world (once again) the power of local radio, and the professionalism our business has displayed since Marconi. As The Big Easy deteriorated into a primitive disaster, radio became the best technology available, thanks to the dedicated WWL staff.
Anyone on the ground in New Orleans could get the critical info from their terrestrial radio – not from their iPods, their satellite radios, or even their cell phones. It's radio at its best – portability, timeliness, community service, risk-taking, and guts. All characteristics that got us to the dance in the first place.
