In partnership with PMCC, we invite your public radio station to participate in Public Radio Techsurvey 2025 and this year’s 17th annual study may be the most important PRTS yet.
In a time of unprecedented change in media, politics, and public trust, understanding your core audience – those who listen, support, and believe in your mission – has never been more vital. PRTS has long helped stations like yours track evolving technology use, content expectations, and media habits across generations. In 2025, these insights will be critical for navigating the uncertainty ahead.
Why participate again this year – or for the first time?
Stations are facing increased pressure across content, funding, and political scrutiny. PRTS 2025 will help your team make smarter strategic choices by providing deep insight into how your audience is listening, giving, and engaging. Whether your format is news, music, or both, this is not the year to sit it out.
What to expect from PRTS 2025?
- Perceptions on public radio’s levels of trust & transparency: How are public radio’s news image and trust levels holding up in today’s divisive political environment?
- Data to guide fundraising strategies: A continued exploration on perceptions around public radio fundraising, including pressure points, especially as funding at all levels remains a dynamic and divisive issue in D.C. and elsewhere.
- How much value do listeners place on being “local?” Expect deep insights into public radio’s role in providing local news and community information.
- Trendable data on platform use: Fresh data on usage of smart speakers, mobile apps, connected cars, audio and video podcasts, and online newsletters – all vital to “meeting the audience where they are.”
For music-focused public radio stations, PRTS 2025 will once again offer valuable insights into how audiences are engaging with radio, discovering music, and using digital platforms and devices.
Your station’s voice matters – to produce a powerful, representative study, we need participation from a wide array of stations — across geographies, formats, and audiences. Whether you’ve joined us before or are considering it for the first time, we strongly encourage you to be part of PRTS 2025.
It’s important to note that we’re also committed to a noticeably shorter survey this year. In addition, we are cognizant of the scrutiny a study like PRTS may receive and remain committed to using neutral language whenever possible.
Station/network investment
For a modest fee, stakeholder stations/networks will receive an array of actionable information to help guide your understanding and decision-making: complete totals for the survey, your format, and your local audience, along with key demographic breakouts. In addition, an executive summary will be presented via webinar upon analysis of the data. It will be open to stakeholder stations and their entire staffs only.
- Top 30 Markets: $550 (PMCC Members)
- Markets 31-75: $450 (PMCC Members)
- Markets 76+: $350 (PMCC Members)
- Non-PMCC Members: $750
PRTS 2025 is set to field beginning in mid-June and into mid-July and we’ll coordinate closely with your digital team to make it turnkey; stations whose fiscal year ends in June will have the option to either pay before or after the June 30th date.
The deadline for registration is Thursday, June 5th. Please reserve your spot now.
**For last year’s PRTS 2024, National Federation of Community Broadcasters (NFCB) co-sponsored for the first time, yielding a terrific turnout of participating community stations for its inaugural study. While we look forward to even greater NFCB station participation in PRTS 2025, a separate NFCB version of PRTS will be designed and fielded later this year (anticipated fall 2025), independent of the PMCC PRTS 2025 study.**
