Longtime air personality at 97.1 FM The Drive Chicago's Classic Rock, one of the Windy City's top stations. I was there from 2001 to April 30, 2020. Great voice, smooth delivery that people enjoy with unmatched knowledge of classic rock and currents too, jazz, blues, Americana, classic country, reggae and more. Longtime host of American Backroads on WDCB, 90.9 FM, 9 pm CDT Thursday nights, streaming worldwide at wdcb.org. Inducted into the Chicago Blues Hall of Fame last year, Sept. 2019 for media support and airplay for decades. And for my writing contributions to Chicago Blues Guide.com. Previously on air at legendary Chi stations WXRT and Q101, breaking into the biz in late 70's at Southern Illinois prog rock WTAO after programming WPGU in Champaign, IL, point of origin for REO Speedwagon, Dan Fogelberg and Eagles mgr. Irving Azoff. Other markets I experienced include Casper, Wyoming, Hammond, Indiana and Springfield-Taylorville, Illinois. Related experience includes early 80's direction of music video format at Channel 66 in Chicago and also early 2000's sales at Downbeat/Music Inc. Magazine with legendary accounts that included Fender, Kawai, Ampeg, Taylor Guitars, Promark, Seymour Duncan, Drum Workshop and many others. On air, I communicate an intimacy with the music to which listeners respond without going on and on. When I open the mike, I know where I'm headed from point A to B in a concise, conversational manner that doesn't talk down to listeners or insult their intelligence. I'm a solid asset to any broadcast operation and would love to talk to you. I'm also a take charge type who will notice a problem with copy, spots or equipment and report it to the proper dept. to get it right not ignoring because it's not my job! Not too proud to swab the studio with disinfectant or empty the garbage and pick up. Not a prima donna ha but confident in my skills and will do what it takes to get the job done.
