Erin aka Christal Blue got her start as a Promotions assistant at Clear Channel Grand Forks in 2000. Under the mentorship of legendary PD Rick Acker, she became a sponge. By 2009 she knew her way around the Oldies, CHR/Rhythmic, Country, and Classic Rock Formats. Successful in both mornings and mid-days, she and her co-host Trevor D (Trevor D & Blue in the Morning / XL93) took KKXL-FM to #1 in Mornings for the first time in over a decade, beating out powerhouse KJKJ-FM (AOR) and the legendary Big Dogz Morning Show.
Christal landed in Fredericksburg, Virginia in 2009. She took her first position with the Star Radio Group the following year. Over the course of three years, she worked on every FM in the building, earning her keep in Country (WFLS-FM), Rhythmic (WVBX-FM), and Classic Rock (WWUZ-FM). She hosted her first weekly specialty show “Rogaine Rock” where she got to show off her love of 80s hairbands. She also earned her stripes as an Imaging Director and began to learn the mechanics of music scheduling and programming.
Christal made the move across town in 2014 to take the helm at Telemedia Broadcasting’s Thunder 104.5 / WGRX-FM (Country). Within three months she was promoted to Program Director, given her first lead position in mornings, and took over as the permanent host of mid-days on sister station Super Hits 95.9 / WGRQ-FM. Christal was part of many great success stories during her time with Telemedia, including being awarded the first, and only, Employee of the Year Award in 2018. Her solo morning show “The Morning Drive with Christal & Co.” came in 2nd to radio legend Rick Rumble in the 2020 Virginia Association of Broadcaster awards for Best Personality or Team. Christal’s love of radio is in every breath she takes; she even went to bat for local radio by contacting her congressmen and senators to fight for aid during the pandemic.
